The Principal Analyst (Vetting and Verification) contributes to the operations of MBIE’s Employment Services Branch in Te
Whakatairanga Service Delivery Group, reporting to the Manager Vetting, Verification and Research.
The key focus of this role is to work in conjunction with wider Employment Services and MBIE to enable the chief Executive, MBIE
and the Employment Relations Authority to meet obligations and responsibilities under the Fair Pay legislation and the Employment
Relations Act. The Principal Analyst ensures accurate and appropriate assessment and decision making, ensuring outstanding
service delivery and compliance with legislative timeframes.
The role is responsible for providing technical support, creating sound strategies, pro-active review of systems and business
processes and contributing to the design and maintenance of operating models.
The Principal Analyst will support the Manager Vetting, Verification & Research Services by providing work allocation, guidance,
coaching and mentoring to the wider team. The Principal Analyst will mitigate process and relationship management issues as they
arise and will be recognised across, and sought out by, internal and external stakeholders as a leader in their area of expertise.

Experience and knowledge of the design and application of strategies, frameworks, risk management, policies, processing,
and systems in a complex business environment.
A proven track record of experience and achievement in an analytical role, utilising complex information and translating it

Strong legislative knowledge and expertise, specifically a demonstrated understanding and experience in the practices of
employment law (or comparable) and managing statutory decision-making processes.

when required.
Provides sound strategic consideration and advise using robust analysis of data needed to support MBIE’s and the
Employment Relations Authority’s responsibilities under Fair Pay and other related employment legislation.
Demonstrates a structured and pragmatic approach to analysis, including working with and providing leadership to
stakeholders ensuring accurate interpretation and validation of results.
Provides technical support to the Manager, Vetting, Verification and Research on data research an analysis for Fair Pay
Pro-actively reviews system and business process efficiency and effectiveness including end-to-end processes across the
system, and global standardised processes (technical expertise).
Provides intellectual and strategic leadership and advice on identified risks and initiatives to improve the whole of system
service.
Contributes to the design and maintenance of end-to-end operating models, including end-to-end or standardised business
processes and system requirements, and guiding project teams in system and process change for Fair Pay and other related
employment legislation.
Defines service, operational principles and requirements.
Delivers services, products and programmes that actively support and contribute to the achievement of the Ministry’s
outcomes and that deliver to the needs of internal and external stakeholders.
Proactively shares expertise and experience with team members and other staff to achieve MBIE’s obligations under Fair Pay.
Fosters an open, collaborative environment that encourages quality, innovation, ongoing learning, and knowledge sharing
within the team and with other business units to ensure core functions are integrated into the wider business and
operational strategy.
Provide guidance coaching and mentoring to team members assigned for specific project work.
