We are seeking an experienced lawyer to join a high performing and fast paced team in one of New Zealand’s regulators. This position will see you providing high quality legal advice both internally and to the organisation’s regulated markets and is an opportunity to use your understanding of banking and finance law in a different and exciting context.
This role in one of NZ’s regulatory authorities is responsible for the provision of high-quality legal advice and expertise to support the organisation’s regulatory functions, assisting front line staff in responding efficiently and effectively to issues, and advising on the use of regulatory tools in response to non-compliance. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to policy development on an ongoing basis.

You will have experience in banking and finance law and the ability to explain sometimes highly complex issues in accessible terms. A team player, you will be comfortable coaching more junior staff members but also have the confidence to advise at the most senior levels of the organisation.
You will have outstanding written and verbal communication skills and will be able to operate autonomously. Influencing at the senior level is a critical part of this role. You will also be able to demonstrate your ability to pragmatically solve problems and drive processes to conclusions.
