Our client is a regulator overseeing critical nationwide infrastructure. As part of their mandate they manage a number of large contracts, and they are seeking an experienced and innovative commercial manager to act as a key contact and subject matter expert. Leading a small team, this is a business-critical role requiring a legal background, demonstrable prior experience in managing large contracts and an advanced level of commercial awareness.
This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in an organisation responsible for driving significant improvements in services that have a daily impact on the lives of ordinary kiwis, and currently undergoing a large uplift in their capabilities. You will join a supportive team and an outstanding corporate culture, and have the chance to take ownership of the contract process from negotiation and drafting, through supplier management, to changing suppliers as needed.
The successful candidate will have a legal background and experience managing large, complex contracts through the whole contract life cycle. Experience in government procurement is not necessary but you will be able to demonstrate your understanding of project management for negotiating and awarding large scale, complex contracts. Curiosity and a willingness to learn will be key to your high performance in this role.
As the manager of a small team, you will in addition be responsible for coaching and mentoring your team members, supporting them in their own development. Prior management experience is essential for this role.
You will have a sound knowledge of vendor management and procurement law and your excellent written and verbal communications skills will support your stakeholder management capability.
If you are looking to learn and expand your contracts experience, this is a unique opportunity not to be missed!
