Mō te tūnga - About the role

Te Pou Ora is WorkSafe’s Māori services team, with a great opportunity for you to join a team of kaimahi working on the common goal of improving outcomes for Māori. 

You will have an analytical mind and can bring a te ao Māori lens to this important mahi. You will be responsible for creating a Kaupapa Māori evaluation framework.

You’ll bring an ability to analyse, manage and monitor WorkSafe’s Kaupapa Māori approach including the delivery of current intervention programmes. 

You’ll be able to identify and gather the successes of programmes delivered across Aotearoa and ensure insights and knowledge of how Māori communities operate between the different regions are shared across WorkSafe.

You’ll put together reports for the progress of the Te Pou Ora work programme and ensure updates are communicated with the organisation at an operational and strategic level.

Salary range offered for this role from $101,200 to $134,933.  

Ngā mahi - Duties

  • Evaluate risk factors associated with WorkSafe's Kaupapa Māori based (intervention) programmes and assessment practice and implement appropriate monitoring activities.
  • Organisational evaluation and monitoring of WorkSafe's Kaupapa Māori way of operating.
  • Project manage thematic of Kaupapa Māori specific programme monitoring activities including focused reviews of assessment practice.
  • Evaluate programme monitoring evidence and produce programme monitoring reports.
  • Manage programme monitors and moderators, including providing training and ongoing quality assurance of monitoring and moderation reports.
  • Engage and influence the Kaupapa of WorkSafe and Te Pou Ora in collaboration with other Government agencies who are also striving for equity and better outcomes for Māori.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako - Skills & Experience

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Experience of developing or contributing to the development of, Kaupapa Māori evaluation frameworks.
  • An understanding of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the Aotearoa Machinery of Government.
  • A level of Te Ao Māori and Tikanga maturity and evidence of how this has been shared.
  • A proven track record of building and sustaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders – including whānau, Iwi, hapū and Māori communities.
  • A basic understanding of project management methodology and coordination experience on delivery of projects and meeting timeframes.

Proficiency in Te Reo is preferred but not an absolute pre-requisite.
