Job Description

People and Culture Lead

At Wellington Zoo, we are the Zoo with the biggest heart: a creative, innovative, and progressive zoo. We are a team of powerfully passionate individuals who are champions for the welfare of all animals - within and beyond the boundaries of the Zoo. We are guided by our kaupapa, “Me Tiaki, Kia Ora!” - we must look after our environment, so all things will flourish.

We have an exciting new (permanent and full time) opportunity for a People and Culture Lead, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer to continue to build the confidence and capability of our people.

The Opportunity

Support and enable our passionate Strategic Management Team in People & Culture related decisions.

Determine priorities and take the lead on projects and initiatives to enhance the employee experience.

Provide across the board People & Culture advice and work alongside all People Leaders in what is a fun and varied place to work.

Showcase your commitment and ability to deliver on  the Zoo’s strategy and kaupapa, particularly with regard to Oranga (a healthy organisation).

Key Requirements

Seasoned Senior HR Advisor who has had exposure to business partnering or who are ready to develop their career in this space.

Strong generalist HR knowledge and expertise with an excellent grasp on employment legislation.

A professional but down-to-earth communicator with the ability to build and foster effective internal and external relationships.

Energy, enthusiasm, honesty and a high level of integrity.

A tertiary qualification in HR or related field.
