The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (RNZCGP) is the professional body and postgraduate educational institute for general practitioners (GPs) and rural hospital doctors.
Our key aim is to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequities for all people in Aotearoa. We do this by setting and maintaining education and quality standards, and supporting our members to provide competent, equitable care to their patients.

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi – About the role
We are seeking a Principal Māori and Health Equity Advisor that will be joining a passionate rōpū that looks to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities across the motu. This is an exciting opportunity to help ensure equitable health outcomes for Māori.
You will be able to provide strategic equity focused advice across three work programmes. These are Te Ruataki (Statement of Strategic Intent), Te Rautaki Māori (Māori Strategic Leadership) and Te Whāriki Taurite (Equity Strategic Leadership, Advocacy and Equity). You will also have the ability to lead the ongoing development and implementation of Te Rautaki Māori.
Ko koe tēnei - About you
To be successful in this role you will bring:
- An in depth understanding and a working knowledge of te Triti o Waitangi, ideally in the Health Sector
- Te reo Māori me ōna tikanga combined with the ability to operate in Te Ao Māori and Te Ao Pākehā environments
- Experience in successfully implementing Māori focused strategies
- Strong written and communication skills
