Role Title: Head of Retail - Opshops
Reporting to: Operations Manager
Purpose of the role
This role will bring support to all our retail sales teams and Opshops.
It will ensure our teams have support and coaching to achieve their sales and revenue goals. The role will also bring support and help for fitouts and refreshes of the Opshops.
Context:
At Orphans Aid International we believe that we have a mandate to care for those that others have forgotten in particular the orphaned child and those in extreme need. We work to see children around the globe placed in families or safe homes. We are a charitable trust established in Invercargill in 2004. We’re a grass roots organisation that has been established by the generosity and hard work of people who want to make a difference in our world. There is much we can and will do to see orphaned children provided for in generations to come.
Key accountabilities
Be responsible for the smooth running of the Orphans Aid Opshops and pop up shops.
Offer support and sales assistance to all our retail shops, this includes regular phone support with managers and scheduled visits.
Assist with monthly dashboards (as developed) and budgets /goals and communication of these with the individual Opshop Managers.
Work with the Opshop managers on sales campaigns, promotions and other events eg Volunteer day.
Work with the Opshop managers to support the overall presentations of the shops.
Report to Ops Manager any issues around premises or OSH related issues, (Ops manager has overall responsibility for OHS)
Be responsible for the scheduling of Opshop staff First Aid courses and the recording of courses such as this.
Assist managers with volunteer training and volunteer needs.
Liase with the Accounts manager for specific POS training needs and other training needs in the Opshops.
Assist with the recruitment and onboarding of new Opshop staff in conjunction with the Ops manager or CEO.
Conduct yearly staff appraisals for Opshop managers and assist with other staff appraisals as needed.
When possible help cover staff leave when managers are away.
Create a sense of team between the Opshops.
Assist the Accounts manager with financial queries for the Opshops.
Assist with yearly stocktakes if needed.
Help develop Op shop related policies for board approval.
Keep Opshop manuals and training manuals up to date with the help of other staff.
The key accountabilities of the role may change from time to time so that Orphans Aid International is able to adapt to changes in the business environment.
Essential skills, experience and qualifications
Experience in retail or fundraising or a related area .
Creativity and design flair
Sound computer skills and ability to learn new programmes when necessary.
Strong time management and prioritisation skills.
Ability to travel independently and work independently.
Full current New Zealand Drivers Licence.
Strong numeracy skills, including budget management.
Very high level oral, written and interpersonal communications skills.
Honesty and integrity.
Personal drive and results driven.
Ability to influence, persuade and negotiate effectively at all levels .
Able to adopt a flexible approach, particularly in face-to-face meetings.
Facilitation, problem solving and conflict resolution.
Positive and professional in all dealings.

A great ambassador for Orphans Aid International at all times.
Level of authority
As defined by the CEO, approval required for entering into any contractual obligations.
Also required for any staffing requirements outside normal day to day activity.
Amendment of any existing policies. Budget will be set in conjunction with the CEO.
