Instructional Designer (Contract)

• 4-month contract

Mō te tūranga | About the role

We’re looking for an experienced and self-sufficient Instructional Designer to join this professional and supportive learning team on a short-term contract. You’ll be rebuilding and reformatting a suite of governance, H&S, finance, risk, and strategy modules in Totara LMS (v19), ready for launch in early 2026.

This is not a creative concept design role, the focus is on execution at pace, ensuring consistency in brand, layout, and navigation for a better user experience. You’ll be working from clear style guides and examples, re-creating content previously built in Articulate Rise, and making tweaks in H5P and HTML to get it just right.

We’re keen to connect with candidates who have:

• Recent hands-on experience building in Totara LMS or Moodle.

• Strong HTML and H5P skills, including light coding tweaks.

• Solid learning design capability with a sharp eye for layout and usability.

• The ability to work autonomously, quickly, and accurately to tight deadlines.

Ngā kawenga | Key responsibilities

• Rebuild 28+ modules in Totara LMS (H5P or HTML-based activities).

• Copy and reformat content to match brand, style, and navigation standards.

• Test activities and troubleshoot any issues.

• Work closely with a Senior Learning Designer/LMS specialist for alignment and handover.
