Senior Operational Policy Advisor
About the opportunity
Come and lead the implementation of Treaty settlement redress legislation, ensuring operational teams have effective policies, tools, and processes to fulfil Treaty commitments. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where your ability to navigate complex regulatory systems and public sector protocols will be key to success.
You will work closely at the intersection of policy, operations, and iwi engagement—translating complex legislation into practical guidance, business procedures, and robust reporting frameworks to provide assurance that obligations are met. In addition, you will contribute to Ministerial briefings and Cabinet papers, requiring you to apply your expertise in a challenging and evolving setting.
Based in Wellington, this is a fixed term position until 30 June 2026.
About you
You’ll bring:
- Proven experience in operational policy, regulatory systems, and legislative implementation.
- Strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Expertise in translating legislation into operational policy, service design, and practical tools.
- Ability to write clear, concise briefings for Ministers and Senior Leadership, and contribute to Cabinet papers.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and stakeholders.
