Join Te Kāhu Tiu as we launch our new tikanga-based mana-affirming programme—a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of rangatahi.
As Kaiāki – The Navigator, you’ll help whānau understand and use the systems around them—health, housing, education, finance, and energy—so they can reduce stress, lower costs, and create stable, healthy homes for their rangatahi.
You’ll complete Healthy Homes style checks with whānau, teach practical routines that improve health and reduce bills, and support whānau to navigate key agencies and systems. You’ll also keep clear records to inform programme design and track outcomes.
He kōrero mōu | About you
You are practical, organised, and skilled at explaining complex information in simple, non-judgemental ways. You have experience in community work, social services, tenancy/energy advocacy, budgeting, or related roles, and are confident walking alongside whānau through forms, calls, and appointments.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Experience in community work, social services, tenancy/energy advocacy, or budgeting
- Practical knowledge of Healthy Homes standards, or willingness to train/qualify as a Healthy Homes Assessor
- Confident explaining complex information in simple, everyday language
- Organised, good with follow-up, and able to walk alongside whānau through key processes
- Full driver’s licence and willingness to travel across the rohe
- Strong commitment to kaupapa Māori, equity, and reducing the cost-of-living burden on whānau
Ngā hāora me te utu | Hours and remuneration
This role is a 12-month fixed term contract with potential to extend. It is a fulltime position, requiring flexibility. The salary is $80,000 plus Kiwisaver.
