He angitūtanga | The opportunity
We are seeking a Kaimahi – Peer Support Worker to join our team. You’ll travel with the Driver each morning to collect rangatahi from their homes across the rohe and return them at the end of the day. During the drive, you’ll engage rangatahi in positive activities, provide encouragement and motivation, and support their wellbeing throughout their time on the programme.
He kōrero mōu | About you
You are empathetic, reliable, and passionate about supporting young people. You have lived experience relevant to rangatahi, strong communication skills, and the ability to build trusting relationships. You’re positive, non-judgemental, and committed to fostering resilience and confidence in rangatahi.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Lived experience relevant to youth (e.g. mental health, addiction, or other challenges)
- Experience in youth work, peer support, or community roles (preferred)
- Good communication and listening skills
- Reliable, trustworthy, and able to maintain boundaries
- Commitment to kaupapa Māori and supporting rangatahi
- Lives locally on the Kāpiti Coast (preferred)
Ngā hāora me te utu | Hours and remuneration
This role is a 12-month fixed term contract with potential to extend. The hours are 30 hours per week across two shifts per day and would ideally suit someone who lives locally on the Kāpiti Coast. The salary is $70,000 pro-rated to 0.75 FTE ($52,500) plus Kiwisaver.
