Senior Analyst – Regulatory Data & Statistics

Drive high‑quality statistical insights that support financial stability across Aotearoa.

Our client—an impactful public institution in the financial system—is seeking an experienced Senior Analyst to lead the production, analysis, and dissemination of high‑quality data and statistics that inform critical decisions and public outcomes.

This a contract role initially until 30 June 26.

The opportunity

You’ll be a trusted expert who ensures data is accurate, timely, and fit‑for‑purpose while continuously improving how information is collected, produced, and shared. You’ll collaborate across teams, provide clear advice to technical and non‑technical stakeholders, and help lift capability within the function.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the timely creation, analysis, and dissemination of key datasets and outputs.
  • Champion data quality and risk management: identify issues, mitigate risks in the production cycle, and drive process improvements.
  • Evolve methods and collections: contribute to new data collections and improved dissemination approaches.
  • Advise and enable: provide expert guidance on understanding and using data, tailored to diverse audiences; mentor colleagues to build capability.
  • Collaborate for impact: work ‘one team’ across the organisation and with external partners to deliver the best outcomes.

What you’ll bring

  • Extensive experience producing, analysing, and disseminating data or statistics.
  • High proficiency in Excel; experience with Power BI, R, Python and/or SQL is an advantage.
  • Understanding of financial/economic and or banking data and strong analytical attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to translate complex analysis for non‑technical audiences and manage stakeholder relationships.
  • Degree in statistics, data science, economics, finance or similar.
