Te Kāhu Tiu is a kaupapa Māori organisation dedicated to supporting rangatahi and their whānau to heal, reconnect, and thrive. Join Te Kāhu Tiu as we launch our new tikanga-based mana-affirming programme—a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of rangatahi.
We are seeking a Peer Support Worker to walk alongside rangatahi, offering encouragement, understanding, and practical support as they navigate challenges and build positive futures. You’ll help create a safe, welcoming environment, share your own experiences to inspire hope, and support rangatahi to engage with our programme and their wider community.
He kōrero mōu | About you
You are empathetic, reliable, and passionate about supporting young people. You have lived experience relevant to rangatahi, strong communication skills, and a commitment to fostering wellbeing and resilience.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Lived experience relevant to youth (mental health, addiction, or other challenges)
- Experience in youth work, peer support, or community roles (preferred)
- Carries mana, with the ability to build trusting relationships and maintain boundaries
- Good communication and listening skills
- Reliable and able to work as part of a collaborative team
- Strong commitment to kaupapa Māori and supporting rangatahi
Ngā hāora me te utu | Hours and remuneration
This role is a 12-month fixed term contract with potential to extend. This is a fulltime position, with flexibility required. The salary is $85,000 plus Kiwisaver.
