The Opportunity

Our client is a well-respected, national law firm.  The Auckland office is now looking for an experienced lawyer to join their Litigation department in support of a Partner widely regarded as one of New Zealand's leading health and safely legal specialists. 

This role will enable you to contribute positively to a vitally important and evolving area of law as you advise on a broad range of health and safety related investigations and dispute resolution.

You will provide health and safety legal compliance advice to businesses and regularly advise clients on ways to address health and safety risks both internally as well as in relationships with contractors, suppliers etc. You will also assist clients in responding to worplace incidents, including providing guidance and representation during investigations and prosecutions by WorkSafe New Zealand, and coronial inquests.  As part of the wider litigation team, you may also become involved in areas such as insolvency, construction and general commercial litigation matters from time to time but the primary focus of your mahi will be workplace health and safety matters. 


The Ideal You:

  • A NZ qualified solicitor with ideally 3-8 years' experience (more or less) in litigation, investigation, prosecution or regulatory matters. 
  • You may have employment or insurance law experience or come from a general litigation or criminal law background. 
  • Health and safety experience would be advantageous but is not essential provided you have a strong interest to practise in this area of law.
  • Strong academics and well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
