Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Legal Manager to lead a team of high-functioning litigation solicitors. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will play a crucial role in providing robust legal advice and ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations. This position reports to the Deputy Chief Executive and requires a qualified Lawyer with a minimum of 8 years PQE.
Responsibilities
- Incorporate the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in regulatory work
- Manage advice to Professional Conduct Committees
- Facilitate and lead the Legal team’s management of Tribunal prosecution processes
- Provide legal advice and support to the Board and manage litigation
- Contribute to organisational and people leadership as a member of the Senior Leadership Team
- Facilitate and supervise the training of the legal team
To be successful in this role, you will offer:
- Qualified Lawyer holding a current practising certificate with a minimum of 8 years PQE
- Relevant experience in the health sector and/or medical law (preferred but not essential)
- Previous experience in a regulatory environment
- Advanced knowledge and proven experience of the prosecutions process (preferred)
- Political and intellectual acuity
- High level of initiative, judgement, critical analysis, and decision-making ability
Day-to-day
- Lead and direct the maintenance of best practice for in-house legal services
- Provide timely, high-quality and robust advice on general legal matters
- Develop and maintain collaborative, effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Provide expert guidance, coaching and mentoring to the legal team
