We are seeking an experienced and savvy legal manager to take up the most senior legal position with a large Crown Entity. As a seasoned leader, you will bring a strong track record of in-house experience including advising at executive and board level.

About the role

You will be responsible for leading our client’s legal directorate, which includes corporate, commercial, regulatory, privacy and information request functions.  Adept at identifying and responding to key issues and risks, you will provide legal advice to all parts of this large, national organisation. You will also work closely with other leaders as part of a high-performing corporate leadership team. This role is based in Wellington.

Key requirements:

  • An experienced, broadly skilled legal practitioner with a current New Zealand practising certificate
  • A strong people leader, with a collaborative and collegial working style
  • Substantial in-house experience including the ability to navigate a large, complex, public sector organisation
  • Strong influencing and decision-making skills and a trusted advisor at senior levels
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and ability to lift capacity and capability in regulatory enforcement
