Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About the role

As a Senior Employment Lawyer, you will be supported by the Team Manager to provide expert legal advice on a wide range of employment-related issues, including employment investigations, disciplinary matters, and the interpretation of employment agreements, policies and legislation. You will be managing personal grievances, representing the organisation at mediations, and collaborating with external counsel on Employment Relations Authority and Employment Court matters. You will also be supporting change management processes (as required), among other tasks.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a current practising certificate (or eligibility to obtain one).
  • At least 6 years’ PQE with a strong focus on employment law, gained either in-house or in a law firm environment. (Broader legal experience, such as in professional discipline or litigation is a plus).
  • A strong understanding of employment law and a demonstrated ability to manage complex employment matters, including personal grievances, mediations, employment investigations and disciplinary processes.
  • Exceptional communication skills, and the ability to build relationships with diverse groups.
  • A team-orientated mindset and high levels of personal integrity.

A willingness to travel across New Zealand to attend mediations and/or disciplinary meetings is also essential.
