Job Description
Senior Solicitor, Litigation (Public Sector)
A respected national organisation seeks a Senior Solicitor to deliver high-quality legal advice, manage litigation, and support strategic legal initiatives. This role involves advocacy, dispute resolution, stakeholder engagement, and mentoring within a dynamic legal team.
You’ll be working in a rewarding, high-stakes area of law, with hearings typically ranging from one day to one week.
What you'll bring:
- Admission as a Barrister and Solicitor in New Zealand
- At least six years’ PQE in any field of litigation, and an interest in legal issues involving children and families
- Proven experience providing complex legal advice and representing clients in courts and tribunals
- A client-focused approach and mentoring capability
- An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and commitment to upholding treaty principles
- A current driver’s licence
What’s in it for you?
Join a tight-knit team where you’ll coach and mentor developing solicitors, including guidance around court procedures. The workload is manageable, with no expectation to work beyond standard office hours—and no timesheets to fill out! This could be the ideal role for someone looking to transition from private practice and continue their litigation career within a public service setting.
